"For he today
who sheds his blood with me
shall be my brother."

- Henry V - Shakespeare

What's the Legion?

The Legion is a select group of linemen that, on a daily basis, demonstrate their willingness to pay the price for victory!  It’s the special bond, the brotherhood that exists between the Fat Men.

The Legion lifts together, eats together, runs together, pays the price together, and holds each other accountable - both on and off the field.   The Legion strengthens the bond, focuses the vision, and further promotes and encourages the overall success of the Patriot Program.

Where others follow, the Legion leads!   Where others quit, the Legion drives on!

Why the Legion?

Because linemen lead!   Games are decided by touchdowns, but they’re won or lost in the trenches.  Other positions get the glory, but it’s the Fat Men that get them the glory!  The Fat Men fight and battle each and every play with little to no recognition.   But this site is dedicated to publicizing their great efforts.

Who is the Legion?

The Legion is comprised of select linemen that are of high character and integrity.  They are disciplined, hardworking linemen that are intensely focused on improving their physical size, strength, overall knowledge and skills of the game.  The Legion doesn't just work hard during the season, they work hard year round!

Members are unconditionally loyal to the Patriot Program and understand that they must be far more than just a great football player.  To the contrary, members of the Legion must be good students, respectful to their parents, teachers and coaches, responsible role models to young players, and achievers unwilling to settle for mediocrity.

Not everyone can be Legion.  But we don't need many, only a few - a few select Fat Men that are willing to pay the price!

The Legion Earns Their Dog Tags

Like every soldier, the Legion has dog tags.  Thus, select members of the Patriot Legion earned their dog tags to commemorate their effort, sacrifice, and hard work they have invested into this off season.  Further, these dog tags, to be worn hanging close to their hearts, signify the brotherhood that exists between members of the Legion.   Many more Legionnaires must continue to work to earn such a distinguished honor.  But needless to say, these hard working Fat Men have set a very high standard for those to follow.

High school football preview: Binghamton

Last year: 7-3, lost in Section 4 final

"We're excited because we return basically all our skill players," coach Mike Ramil said. The lines, however, will be as green as about any in the section.

Quarterback Wayne Bonsell passed for three-digit yardage in six games last year, and also rushed for 95-plus in the first two. Receiver Tino Yevchinecz had three or more receptions in seven games, and on opening night had a season-best nine. He heads a cast of catchers that includes Kevin Rowe, Hamza Abdush-Shahid and Wesley Reynolds.

Running back J.J. Jones rushed for 160 or better in four games, and Anthony Penaherrera is back as well.

The offensive front is a group described by line coach Joel Davis as "a bunch of no-names who are ambitious and who bust their butts to learn and to execute." Not a varsity starter returns, and sophomore Nick Garbarino is one of the youngsters who has had at least a sniff of varsity ball.

"We're not going to go out and pound anyone, but we'll be very athletic," Ramil said of the offense. "It's a group with good team speed."

Mohammed Hassanien, Noel Young and Quayshawn Parker are ticketed for defensive-line duty, all having played some varsity defense. Also getting a look up front are Mark Torres, freshman Greg Bostick and sophomore Michael Brown.

Big hitter Delroy Young will man a hybrid safety/linebacker spot and Rahiem Feggins returns in the secondary after making a splash or two last year with key interceptions to go with kick-return prowess -- one going for 86 yards and a score on the opening kickoff against Horseheads.

Other leading defensive candidates include linebackers William Pichura and Romundo Young, and secondary men Clifford Harris, Penaherrera and freshman Scott Wright. Of the latter, Ramil said, "This kid is going to be a good one."
